“He has a skill in capturing the feel of the day with those candid moments when your guests are relaxed, laughing, crying and enjoying the day. His images ‘pop’ from the page with real impact and great composition.
It was also important to us to find a photographer who was easy to work with and a relaxed professional personality that we could be confident in sharing our day with. Pete has been all of that. We’ve had a number of face to face meetings with Pete and many many emails and really think of him now more as a friend.” Paul & Claire | Toft Country House Hotel
After a wet start a scorching summer sun ensured everybody was in high spirits, and no two people more so than Paul and Claire. Their wedding ceremony was held at Northborough Church, sadly no photos during though by order of the clergy. However we more than up for it by capturing the emotion and energy in the lead up and immediately after the ceremony. The reception was held at Toft Country House near to Stamford, as is the norm for me I photographed the entire exit, departure and arrival without direction to Paul and Claire. Preffering instead to create more meaningful, real wedding photographsfrom the natural course of events.
It had been a while since I last photographed a wedding at Toft Country House Hotel and this time we’d planned access to Toft golf course for some sun down photography with use a of golf buggy if we wanted to get around a little quicker. Of course, as the saying goes with best laid plans, you guessed it! Everyone had gone home including the golfers! So with a verbal agreement in place we figured we’d walk and shoot as much as we could anyway. This time of the day can often be overlooked by couples focussed on planning their wedding day, above all else pretty much down time for guests,
for pretty much every newly wed couple I’ve worked with its one of the few times they have spent some chilled, quiet time together. What an evening, setting sun, soft light and the peace and quiet of an empty golf course. If you could just bottle the feeling we get from a warm summers evening in the countryside and one it up again in January we’d all be much the better for it. I shot a variety of photographs with Claire and Paul, over 25 mins or so, the aim was to capture them feeling relaxed in natural surroundings. Later I would use these create large page spreads fro their wedding album too.
